Every action is simultaneously an act of production and consumption. Reflecting on our behavior from this perspective draws attention to connections which we may otherwise overlook, both with respect to the outward physical world and to our inner world of thoughts and ideas.

‘Looking Out / Looking In’ is an art creation project designed to sharpen this perspective. Online image libraries are used to create an abbreviated map of the unseen web of connections that extend from and lead up to everyday actions, in both the physical past and future, and in an individual’s memory and imagination. Through an iterative process of “story-boarding”, image search and composition, a collage takes form that begins to convey the astounding complexity of this web and its mysterious integrity.
