Traditional Chinese landscape paintings are richly evocative of a “systems view” of the world. The theoretical insights of systems science can also provide a fruitful basis for looking at these paintings anew. This full-day workshop combines a field trip to Shanghai’s Houtan Park, a visit to the Chinese landscape collection at the Long Museum, and an afternoon drawing session culminating in a collaborative creative work.
