What can be communicated with a mask? Our faces are constituted of ever-shifting combinations of color, line and form that communicate highly complex information instantaneously. With a mask the possibilities are more limited. A mask is frozen, and the materials always have limited versatility. On the other hand with masks it is possible to greatly exaggerate and elaborate on familiar human expressions, as well as explore beyond the realm of the familiar.
Halloween is a perfect festival for experimenting with masks. Join us at the Studio on October 25, 1.30-3:00 for a mask-making party and other Halloween activities. Masks will be displayed during the week of October 27-Nov 2 at SPROUTWORKS, Xintiandi (185 Madang Lu, Shanghai).
