Sustainability Symbol

ARTSpring, in collaboration with Art+ Cooperative is holding a studio workshop for artists and designers over four weekends in May and June 2011. Designing a symbol for sustainability is the context for discussion and visual exploration of ideas about sustainability. What might such a symbol look like? What uses might such a symbol have in society? We will look at the history and design of a handful of symbols, including some Chinese ideograms, paying close attention to the way ideas about the moral underpinnings of society are represented.
